How it works:
An industrial water demineralizer typically operates through two main processes:
Ion Exchange: The system uses ion exchange resins, which contain positively charged ions (cation) and negatively charged ions (anion). Raw water flows through these resins, where the mineral ions present in the water are exchanged for the ions in the resins. Unwanted cations and anions are captured by the resins, leaving the water demineralized.
Regeneration: As resins become saturated with mineral ions, they need to be regenerated. This involves washing the resins with specific salt solutions that release the captured ions and recharge the resins for subsequent use. The regeneration process is typically automated in industrial systems.
Industrial water demineralization systems can be designed for continuous or intermittent operation depending on specific application needs. They can be used alone or as part of a more comprehensive water treatment system that includes additional steps such as filtration, reverse osmosis or disinfection, depending on the desired water quality requirements.
